After welcoming an attendance of 24 members the Chairman went on to say that the past year had been good and we had attracted more new members. The Show had gone very well and it had been there we had gained most new members. He also thanked his office bearers and committee for all their hard work during the year.

Full Committee

Syllabus for our Monthly Meetings for 2008 Our Meetings are held in The Lomond Centre, Woodside, Glenrothes at 7pm on the following dates

 Feb 19th

George Park gave a talk on the taking of cuttings, potting up and potting on, showing his method of doing these various tasks. There was a good attendance at the first meeting of the season. Images show George at work and a rapt audience

March 18th George Cameron came along to our meeting and gave a wide ranging talk on composts, pests and diseases of Fuchsias. Probably the worst pest is Vine Weevil with rust the most difficult disease to control/eradicate. Other pests would be white fly, greenfly and the new threat gall mite. This has been endemic in America for quite a number of years but has now spread to Europe. It is a notifiable disease so any suspected outbreak must be reported to DEFRA  Thanks for all the information George

April 15th Workshop/ Cuttings/ pot up./ pot Down

May 20th Tom Sneddon  --- Fuchsias.

June 17th At this meeting,  Mr A Given, secretary and Past President of Kirkcaldy Camera Club  taught us in a very friendly way how to take pictures of Fuchsias. As we have a class for  pictures added to this years show he had our rapt attention. We had lighting and exposures explained and how to use the self-timer to avoid camera shake.   Hopefully we have a large number of entries in this class at our show which will be judged by Mr Given. It was a very good meeting on Fuchsias  -- with a difference.
